We skipped a month, Here's to September!

It's been too long!! My oh my was August a crazy busy month for my husband and I. Between work, family, and catching up on sleep, the weekends passed by without a mini-staycation. I can't say we are pleased with that. The family time is always welcomed, but the work scheduled on weekends?!? Let that be a reminder that healthcare professionals might look like they have dream schedules but it's also often times unpredictable, leaving my hubs with 12 hour shifts blocking out our weekends together.

I haven't found out how to feel comfortable doing things alone. I've taking my pup for a few walks a couple times to national parks and stuff, but it's still a tiny bit weird now having my husband there to share the time with. I'm working on it though! Once I get passed the endless excuses like "I neeeeeed to fold this laundry" or "I don't want to waste the gas money".

To what matters this post: WE WENT OUTSIDE! No seriously, Florida has been almost too hot to even be outside for more than an hour lately, which doesn't make for a very dog friendly experience. Fiona even dreaded going outside to do her business on the hottest of days. BUT.... Fall is nearing and it's finally below 100!! We've reached the upper 80's which is totally perfect in my opinion.

Saint Augustine was the weekend getaway we decided on. About 3 hours from our Apollo Beach condo and a reasonable fun drive through Orlando and Daytona beach area. I suggest spenders a little extra time and cruise the coastline of A1A for some breathtaking beachy views. Don't forget to pull over from time to time and walk the beach for a stretch break. Actually, you don't need an excuse to take a walk on the beach.

As far as the actual city goes, Saint Augustine has a lot to offer. History lessons, great food, scenic walks (perfect for your fur-babies), and some really awesome drink selections. If you want to cool off, I suggest hunting down the hyppo Popsicle place and have an organic peach-burbon Popsicle because it's like the gates of burbon heaven have bestowed their greatest creation on a peach Popsicle.

There's also the famous Castillo de San Marcos, a lighthouse you can climb up for a short fee and a little drive, or you can schedule a sunset boat tour or something more ghostly. We opted for a swim on Vilano beach with our dog and a walk on one of the neighboring bridges after a delicious pizza.

We suggest taking advantage of the fact you're on the east coast and skip the sleeping in part of a vacation and trade it in for a Sunrise walk along the coastline, coffee in hand.
