The start of something good!
Okay so here we go, let's get this thing started!
Let's start with the basics so you kinda get what's going on here (aside from the whole we're blogging 'bout traveling).
Our Intro to the blog all about it world:
I'm the wife, Kara. I'm also the "writer" behind this thing. My husband, Brett, is the one with the cool photos to document our travels, wherever they may be. But... I'm also in a little friendly competition with him to take some of my own cool pics. Unfortunately, I know very little compared to him when it comes to working my fancy lens so when I get a decent photo I'm probably going to make a big deal about it because it rarely happens. I promise not all the photos will have us smooching in them... I just figured it might be a little helpful to show you all who we are, and that I guess we kinda like each other and this fairly new hobby we've discovered.
Why do we want to do this?
Well... I enjoy social media, writing and well, obviously, traveling. The Hubs enjoys his fancy camera and getting up close and personal with all the cool things we see along our way. We've been together for quite a while now and it seems to be a recurring theme since we included "life's crazy adventures" in our vows so looks like we'll be planning some pretty cool trips in the not-so-distant future. From weekend getaways to aimlessly driving until we decide to stop in our own home state, follow along with us as we share about all the places we go! We hope to inspire people to get out of the house a little more and enjoy some new places of their own! Maybe we'll see you out there?
For fellow aspiring photographers!
I I'm just gonna throw it out there now that we're incredibly spontaneous and forever disorganized so we'll often just use our Sonya5100, or Iphone6s. But... we've also got a few GoPro's to throw in the mix as well as a few lenses fitted for a Sonya58. It just so happens that anytime we leave the house in an attempt to quickly capture something really really cool, the battery is dead or we're missing a key functioning component. Improvising is all part of the fun though, right?! Feel free to email us at wonderingboutwandering@gmail.com if you see something that sparks your attention and what to know how my handsome newbie photographer does what he does or to find what settings he may have used. He could talk camera stuff forever so even if its just a little friendly helpful hint to make us a bit better, share it, we'd love to hear from you!
Why "waste" money and time on travel?
For the last few years we've been to some pretty cool places in our home state of Florida. From little state parks that don't get much popularity, to family owned and operated restaurants that have a little something special to share, we really enjoy the chase of seeing something new (well, new to us). We've taken random roadtrips to Colorado... some weekend getaways to somewhere beachy along the coastlines, and even aim to get a little lost on kayaks in our own "back yard" in the mangroves of Apollo Beach from time to time. We were raised in a fairly small town surrounded by cow pastures and swamps so once we started slowly venturing out further and further together, we discovered a love for going to new places. We don't have crazy amounts of money to spend on fancy hotels and long term getaways, and work full time at jobs we actually enjoy (for the most part), so that gives you a little insight as to why most of our trips will be little two and three night explorations. The little extra money that we do have is nearly always spent on making new memories, and we wouldn't have it any other way! We don't view it as a waste of money or time at all, but more of a hobby and fun thing to do together. We try to live by "collect memories, not things".
Travel often. Travel with friends. Travel with family. Just GO!
